When searching for warmer, sandy beaches, sea caves, and stark cliffs set against the sparkling ocean, the Algarve marks the spot.  The best waterparks are found in the southern region of Portugal. Expats concentrate here, with entire communities of expats concentrated in cities.  Many British expats exist here, and visiting certain parts can make you feel like you are no longer in Portugal at all.  This region spans approximately 5000 square kilometers (1,900 square miles) and is divided into 16 municipalities.  

The Algarve boasts some of Portugal’s best beaches with golden sand and clear, turquoise waters set amidst dramatic cliffs.  Many beaches are only accessible by boat or long, albeit beautiful, hikes.
