We moved to Portugal in 2021 and have fallen in love with our new home. We want to share this experience with you!
From cool places to visit, tips for American Expats considering moving here and sharing our experience, we are sharing it all!

Lucy

Lucy, our oldest, is a fearless leader of the crew. She now attends a private school called Brave Generation Academy (BGA), but attended Portuguese school for 1.5 years and speaks fluently. She loves all things music, plays with several Portuguese bands, navigates public transport like a pro and is considering college in Europe and the USA.
Grant

Grant, our oldest boy, also attended public and private school in Portuguese and speak fluently. He also attends Brave Generation Academy and participates in jui jitzu. He likes playing with our Portuguese dog and is trying surf lessons
Lincoln

Lincoln, our middle child, has completed the third cycle at school (more explanation on cycles of Portuguese schools on the blog!) and is switching to BGA as well to refine his English again. He is very fluent in Portuguese after four years in Portuguese private school. He also loves to read, go to the beach, and enjoy the Portuguese sun.
Harrison

Harrison, our forth, loves everything that isn’t school! He is the most fluent of all of us and is constantly correcting us on our pronunciation and grammar. He loves to build Legos, travel as a family, watch movies and play board games. Adjustment to Portugal was a bit tricky for Harrison, but after the first two years he made good friends at school and now says everyone is his best friend.
Grace

Grace, the youngest and princess of the family, speaks like a Portuguese child with a beautiful accent and can’t even tell they are two different languages. While she won’t speak Portuguese with us at home, we love having her friends over to hear her rattle away in her second language (that may one day be her most comfortable language). For her, Portugal is the only home she can remember.
Chris

Chris, our fearless dad, rocks working remotely around the world and loves all things photography related. He leads the direction of our many YouTube videos, is behind the camera on most of our pictures (or at least edits them) and loves being a dad.
Leslie

Leslie, the author of this blog, felt the need to share our family’s experience after the monumental effort it took to get to Portugal. While we all love Portugal now, it was not easy! Leslie hopes you can find this information useful if you are also considering Portugal in your future, either for a visit or a new home! Leslie also enjoys travel, which you can see on her travel blog, www.7wayfinders.com.
We’re always excited to hear from you!
