Perhaps Portugal’s most beautiful city, framed by the lovely Duoro River, Porto enamors tourists with stunning architecture, the most beautiful train station in Europe, legends of Harry Potter and its famous author, wine tours into the vibrant countryside, and Roman ruins, to name a few. Oporto, as it is also called, played a major role in the Age of Discovery at Portugal’s height of world power.

The Ribeira district in the historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and features well-preserved medieval buildings along the Douro River.  Kids will enjoy visiting the Lello Library, famed for inspiring J.K. Rowling in her creation of Hogwarts.
